Something You Should Know
is that as a kid, I was almost kidnapped in my own home. From my bedroom, I hear a knock. I look through the peephole.
Unable to identify who she is, I remain silent. With every knock that I hear, it becomes
louder and louder.
but for a split second, it becomes quiet.
In a fake friendly voice, she said, “ I have an oreo cookie for you if I opened the door.” Maybe that’s when every life thoughts gave rushing through my mind
like did I tell my friend and family I loved them
was it my last?
Although unfit to grasp my reality, I remember my parent’s lesson at a young age to never open the door to a stranger, and if one comes by, call us or 911.
I hurried to my iPad and called my mom.
When she rushed in, her maternal instincts kicked in.
She grabbed the woman and took her to the side, and called the cops. Barely able to hear their conversation, tears began to run down my face, and for the next six months, I was afraid to stay home alone, traumatized by my experience.
